What’s in our blood?
Your food allergies or sensitivities can be identified with an incredibly small amount of our blood serum. Our blood more specifically contains a plethora of valuable information that scientists can extract. One of the more popular methods of accurate allergy and sensitivity testing is the blood test.
IgE or IgG?
In the case of food allergies, skin pricks and blood tests that measure a protein called IgE (immunoglobulin E) are used to diagnose them. The presence of IgE antibodies generally indicate an immune system response.
Food sensitivity tests typically look for the presence of IgG (immunoglobulin G.) The degree of total antibody binding to each food is quantified via enzyme- or fluorescence-linked immunosorbent assays.
Fingerprick Collection
The fingerprick uses capillary blood from your fingertip. Our test kit contains everything you need to perform the test from the comfort of your own home. Simply prick your finger and allow a few drops of blood to fall onto the collection card. The blood is then processed to remove red blood cells, so only the plasma is tested. Lab tests are performed on calibrated machines run by trained lab technicians, so they may provide more precise results.
